Buying a new or used car? Get the facts!

Guest post contributed by Shelly

Buying a new car is a pretty big
decision. The most important thing you should consider when buying a
car is “Can I really afford it?”. You don’t want to get into a 3- or
4-year contract and not be able to pay it off. Most loan companies are
understandable when it comes to missing a payment or two, but once you
get three or more months behind, then you may be in a little trouble.
Make sure that your payment is lower than what you were expecting to
spend. That little bit extra could come in handy for gas and
maintenance.

Another bit of advice that could be handy is, if
you are going to a dealership to buy a car, you want to make sure that
you deal with trusted dealers
only. There are some dealers (and independent owners) who want to “take
you for every dime you’re worth”. Do some research on dealerships. I
think maybe taking a tour of the place before buying a car would be
helpful, too. Maybe after hours, just walk around the lot and check out
their inventory.

You’ve done your research and you even have
the car picked out and price limit set. Now, it’s time to go to that
dealership and make that purchase. Make sure to test drive your car
before signing anything. Check under the hood, the tires, under the car,
etc. Ask as many questions as possible. Read over all of the paper work
before signing it. Also, ask if they have any promotions or free
services going on. A lot of dealers will give customers free oil changes
for a year with the purchase of a new car. Companies like Trusted Car Dealers UK offer a lot more valuable information about purchasing a new or used vehicle.

Do your research, know your limits, know what you want, and you car shopping experience may just be an enjoyable one.

Happy Car Hunting!!!

Friday Felicities

Friday Felicities is all about things that make you happy and was started by my friend Nattie. She knew the value of counting your blessings.  Nattie has been a resident of heaven since 2007.  I miss her a lot.

  • No traces of pain left in my foot – I am very thankful for this.
  • This week marked my 46th birthday.  I’m very happy to be alive and well but I could’ve happily passed the day without comment – I feel odd the whole day and am usually glad for it to be over.  I was sick this year so we ordered pizza (and wings for the guys) and just stayed in.
  • Birthday Checks!  My in-laws sent some birthday money and I bought some things just for me.
  • My family.  Dick and the boys are the best family I could ever have.

New Apartment – New Cleaning Schedule

My old cleaning schedule just didn’t work with our new place so I set out to make a new one and hey, you know me, I just needed a excuse to make a new printable!

This one incorporates a different area per day format.  So far I only have daily chores listed but I plan to soon incorporate some quarterly and deep-cleaning chores.

Travel Agency

Thanks for the guest post by Jo Levy

My brother-in-law has owned a travel agency for nine years. He has helped us plan for so many vacations. He lets us in on the secrets of planning a less expensive vacation, which has allowed us to go on many vacations that we otherwise could not afford. My favorite vacation we went on was our trip to Acapulco, Mexico. We had an all-inclusive stay at a beautiful resort. We stayed there for eight days and I felt like we were in heaven. I stopped by my brother-in-law’s office yesterday because I would like to go on a trip for my husband’s 30th birthday. I was surprised to walk in and find that he is currently remodeling his office. He told me that he wanted to make some updates in the office and decided to go ahead and do it before his busy season starts. He has even changed his internet and phone to xo. Luckily the construction did not affect his ability to help me find a place for our next trip. I think I will try to keep the trip a surprise and I hope my husband likes it.

I know I am late with my Felicities today but technically it is still Friday so here we go!  What makes me happy:

  • Today we closed on our house!  Yaay!
  • My gout flare up is nearing it's end.  I am so thankful for that.  You just don't know.
  • Jonathan make me happy.  He is such a sweet boy and sometimes he tells funny jokes.
  • William makes me pretty happy too!  Never seen a kid so passionate for basketball.
  • My hubby is the best – it's great to be married to someone who is always encouraging you!

What makes you happy?  Please share!

Review: NIV Faithgirlz! Bible

Today’s Wild Card contributor is:
Nancy Rue

and the book:

NIV Faithgirlz! Bible (Revised Edition)

Every girl wants to know she’s totally unique and special, and contributor Nancy Rue helps them do just that in the revised edition of the NIV Faithgirlz! Bible. As a leading tween expert, Rue teaches girls that the Bible is real and relevant and, best of all, that the story of God and His people is also their story. Girls can now grow closer to God as they discover the journey of a lifetime, in their language, for their world.

The new Faithgirlz! Bible was developed especially for girls ages 9 to 12. Everything in it is written with a tween girl’s experience in mind, and it features the most popular Bible translation in the world, the New International Version. The features explain hard-to-understand things in the Bible and guide girls to put the Scripture to work in their own lives. The Faithgirlz! Bible focuses on sharing faith with friends and gives real ways for girls to do that.
Each book of the Bible has activities that make God’s Word more relevant than ever. And, of course, because it was developed for Faithgirlz! readers, they can expect to find it jam-packed with customized content and artwork that really makes the Bible stand out. Girls will love the cool design, the interactive features and the feeling of knowing that God’s Word is there for them whenever they need it. Some of the features included are:

· Book Introductions—Girls will read the who, when, where and what of each book of the Bible.

· Dream Girl—Girls will use their imaginations to put themselves in the story.

· Is There a Little (Eve, Ruth, Isaiah) in You?—Girls will see for themselves what they have in common with women of the Bible.

· Words to Live By—Girls will discover great Bible verses for memorizing.

· Oh, I Get It!—Girls will find answers to Bible questions they’ve wondered about.

Nancy Rue says, “I hope the Faithgirlz! Bible will help girls grow a friendship with the Bible, their own relationship. It asks questions, asks them to think and challenges them to apply what they’re learning. That’s how they’ll find a deep, personal relationship with God, rather than just by following rules or saying what they’ve been told without really thinking about it. Rules are important, of course, but they only make sense when they really believe the message of the Scriptures. That’s what this Bible is about.” The Faithgirlz! Bible is the perfect Bible to support girls in their journey into the “beauty of believing.”

The main edition of the Faithgirlz! Bible is hardcover, but it is also available in two Italian Duo-Tone designs. For better portability, there is also an NIV Faithgirlz! Backpack Bible. This compact edition does not include the in-text features that the full-size edition has, but it does have twelve full-color pages of Faithgirlz! fun, the words of Christ in red and a ribbon marker. An ebook version is also planned for electronic use.

Living In The Now

I think living in the moment is very important but it is something that I am having to learn how to do.  I’m not very good at it.  From the very earliest days of my life I would be thinking ahead.  First it was, when I graduate high school, I will do this and that and someday I’ll get married and it will be like this.  I’ve thought the same with getting pregnant, having children, losing weight, etc.  When I go on dialysis I will start to feel better, when I get a new kidney I will have more energy.  It has always been about looking ahead and not really living today.

You’d think I wouldn’t be doing that now, wouldn’t you?  You’d be wrong though.  I knew from the beginning that kidney transplant patients lose their Medicare 3 years post transplant.  I’ve been thinking about this with every anniversary, the latest being my 2nd kidney anniversary on March 28th.  I’m thinking about what happens when I no longer have insurance and I have to figure out how to get/afford my anti-rejection meds.  Will I be able to get them?  Will I have to go back on dialysis?  Will I die?

That’s a bit extreme but I’m telling you that is how I think and because of it, I realized that I am not enjoying now.  I’m feeling nervous and I’m worrying.  That’s not how I want to live my life and that is certainly not living in faith.  Speaking of, living in the moment is a journey of faith and it would seem He is intent that I make my way through such a journey.  I don’t know how to do it but I do know that He is faithful to teach me.  I couldn’t as for anything better.
