Do you know what was happening 18 years ago today? Where you were? How you were feeling? I know exactly. 18 years ago I was in a one bedroom apartment in Alabama having just moved there a couple of weeks earlier from Tennessee – and it was Father’s Day, a Sunday.

My first niece had just been born early that morning and because I did not yet have a phone, a friend from church had gotten word for me that Sara had been born and came over to my apartment early bearing an “It’s A Girl!” balloon. I was 24 years years old and simply over the moon about this new baby that I had not yet seen! They named her Sara Jessica and she weighed 10 pounds and 1 ounce!

As soon as I got my hand on some pictures of “little” Sara I bought a “Proud Aunt” brag book and started showing them to everyone. I can’t believe it now but at the time I even showed the pictures to complete and total strangers! I can remember saying at the time that I couldn’t imagine loving my own children any more than I loved that little girl. Ten years later when my own son was born I did learn the lesson that love multiplies, not divides! :)

Happy 18th Birthday, Sara!
I Love You!!
